About Charlyn

Charlyn grew up on every coast, and the different cultures of each city sparked an early fascination with people and their connections. She holds a bachelor’s degree in photography from Virginia Wesleyan and a master’s in business and marketing, and has spent over a decade honing a fine-art editorial style rooted in intention. She currently resides in New York City. Her approach lives at the intersection of artful direction and careful observation — she works intentionally, leaving room for emotion to unfold naturally. Her process isn’t about chasing perfection; it’s about preserving what’s real and enduring. In her free time, Charlyn chases quality food, latte art, new museum exhibits, and time with loved ones.

Before you decide

Frequently asked questions

Can we see a complete wedding example?

The portfolio and wedding stories show selected work. Tell the studio which artist you are considering and what you would like to see, such as a full gallery, longer film, or work in lighting similar to your venue. We can check which examples are available to share.

Ask the studio for a wedding example

Will Charlyn be the person photographing our wedding?

Yes. The photographer or videographer you select is the lead artist you are booking for that service. You can look through their work and meet them before making your choice. If an emergency affects your selected artist, the studio handles the next steps and communicates with you about replacement coverage.

Can we meet Charlyn before booking?

You meet directly with the photographers and videographers you are considering. Use the video meeting to talk about your wedding, ask how they work, and see whether you click. You do not need a separate studio consultation to get started; our studio is available whenever you need help.

Does checking availability or booking a meeting hold our date?

No. Your signed agreement and first payment reserve your booking. Availability can change while you are browsing or scheduling meetings, so it helps to start once you know your wedding date and location. If your wedding is coming up soon, check your date and we can help you explore the available options.

What happens if our booked photographer has an emergency?

The studio handles backup coordination and will talk with you about replacement coverage if your artist has an emergency. Our standard agreement also provides that, if Double Knot must terminate for a reasonable cause such as an accident or ill health, you can choose a replacement photographer or videographer or a full refund. Your signed agreement contains the terms that apply to your booking.

Can we change coverage or add hours after booking?

Contact the studio as soon as your plans change. We will check artist availability, talk through the coverage you need, and confirm any added cost and agreement updates before you commit to the change. Additional hours are charged at the rate in your agreement, so it is best to plan for them in advance when possible.
